Believe it or not, solar farms can be friendly spots for bee populations.
In a partnership with Colorado State University Extension, PVREA is creating an ideal hangout for bees at the Coyote Ridge Community Solar Farm. On March 12, PVREA hosted a Plant Day with CSU Extension where high school students from Resurrection Christian School spent the afternoon helping PVREA sow seeds in the soil around the solar panels that are pollinator-friendly for bees.
Through this project, the Co-op will help benefit nearby agriculture, contribute to the preservation of pollinating species (birds, bees, etc.), improve the beauty of the solar farm, and contribute to public support of our solar project. The Co-op is also investigating a partnership with a local beekeeper to take advantage of the solar farm.
