On Sunday, September 15, a vehicle fire spread to the surrounding hillside in the Glacier View Meadows area causing the McNay Fire. The fire surrounded our infrastructure serving our mountain areas. For safety of the individuals fighting the fire, PVREA de-energized our transmission line resulting in 3,600 services to be out of power with all power being restored within 24 hours.
Two structures were damaged during the fire. PVREA used drones to fly over and inspect the area affected by the fire. With the drone information, we assessed the impacted area, checked equipment and structures, and determined a game plan for repairs in a safe manner.
Thank you to the first responders in keeping our community safe, the PVREA lineman and contractors who worked to repair our infrastructure, and a special thanks to all the members impacted for your patience and support.
