PVREA keeps our members and the general public safe through our tree trimming, construction work plan, hazard stickers, and safety education.
PVREA has a dedicated tree trimming crew who manages right-of-way clearances. They trim back branches and brush away from power lines. Tree trimming keeps your family safe by ensuring that tree branches do not become energized due to close contact with a power line. Power lines can carry up to 25,000 volts, and an energized tree branch is incredibly dangerous – even deadly.
PVREA actively inspects equipment and replaces old equipment through our Construction Work Plan, which reduces risk of power lines coming down, poles breaking, etc.
PVREA makes sure our equipment is marked with hazard stickers. Pad-mount transformers, meter boxes, substations and many other pieces of equipment are marked with warning labels, notifying you of the presence of electrical voltage.
PVREA provides electrical safety demonstrations and hosts safety checklists and articles online at www.pvrea.coop.
